Monolingual Stream

Ergänzungsschule/ Private International School

Monolingual Stream:

At our Secondary School (Grades 7-10), we are authorised to offer two separate streams - monolingual and bilingual. The monolingual stream offers an education in English, therefore the student must be fluent in English (reading, writing & speaking).

This stream is designed for the following:
- Embassy families
- Families who are considered highly mobile
- Students who don't speak enough German to learn bilingually

Students in the monolingual stream must obtain a 'Schulpflichtbefreiung' (exemption from the compulsory German school system) from the local authority. The school will assist you with this process.

This stream is based upon the framework of the British National Curriculum, IGCSE and the International Baccalaureate (IB). Students also receive mandatory German lessons according to their ability.

From Monday to Thursday the school offers before school supervision from 8:00, Friday's school day begins at 8:15. Lessons begin at 8:30 and end at 15:20. The school day ends at 16:00. Students who wish to avail of the After School Clubs also have the opportunity to stay until 16:30.

Students that wish to go on to take the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) in Grades 11 and 12 are required to achieve six IGCSEs at Grade C or above, including English and Maths. The IB Diploma is offered in English only.

We do not offer A'Levels as a school-leaving qualification.
