Junior Maths Challenge
For the third ever Junior Maths Challenge at the end of April, we had a record breaking forty students from Grades 6 and 7 take part. The challenge is an international event hosted by the United Kingdom Mathematical Trust. A number of our Grade 7 students have returned eager to get stuck into the unusual and challenging questions along with a group of Grade 6 students trying it out for the first time.
On the last day before half term, the awards were presented. A staggering nineteen of the students scored enough points to be given either a Bronze or Silver award. This is a significant achievement to have scored so well when answering thought-provoking and rigorous problems in unfamiliar contexts.
Next year Grade 7 will go onto to compete in the Intermediate Maths Challenge and Grade 6 will get another shot at the Junior Maths Challenge. Watch this space for the challenges next year.
A huge congratulations to all of the students that took part!
