Jewish Quarter

Grade 8 visited the Jewish quarter of Berlin to have a guided bilingual tour. The tour looked at the origins of Jewish migration to Berlin, why Jewish people settled around Hackescher Markt and how Jewish identity and sense of belonging changed throughout the years spent living there. 

We also heard stories of how the policies of the Nazis and the Holocaust impacted the lives of Jewish people living in Berlin. The students commented that they found it interesting to see the places that these events unfolded and it helped to put their learning into a real world context.
