Trip to Ökowerk

The German Department collaborated with the Grade 5 teachers to organise a trip to the Conservation Centre, Ökowerk Berlin, on the 11th of March. This trip is an example of cross-curricular learning as it integrates German language studies with the Unit Of Inquiry, the Journey of Stuff. 

The students participated in two workshops. In the first, they explored the forest by collecting trash, analysing the types of waste and sorting them into the appropriate bins. In the second workshop, students examined various insect species found by searching for them in the forest, carefully capturing them in small containers with magnifying glasses and then releasing them. Afterwards, they watched two short video clips about the recycling process.
