Blind Spot
Today, Charles-Dickens School invited our Grade 4 students to learn about the Toter Winkel, or "blind spot." Ther teacher explained that it's the area around a car that the driver can’t see with their mirrors. The real fun began when the students had the chance to sit in a car and experience it for themselves. One by one, they took turns sitting in the driver's seat while the rest of the class stood in different spots around the car. When they checked their mirrors, they couldn't see the students who were standing in the blind spot at all! It was a real eye-opener for them and helped them understand why it's so important for drivers to always check their surroundings.
By the end of the lesson, the students were much more aware of the Toter Winkel and how to stay safe when walking or biking near cars. It was great to see them so engaged and ready to be more careful on the road.
