Varsity Girls’ ESC Football at BBIS

Varsity Girls’ ESC Football at BBIS

On Friday 15th and Saturday 16th November our Varsity girls football team played in an ESC (European Sports Conference) tournament at BBIS.

They played against team from: Geneva, Valencia, Bavaria and two teams from BBIS!

Whereas the girls play on half a field at GISST, in the ESC they play on a whole field. This was a big challenge for them, but one they took on really well. It will also help them for the upcoming GISST football in Neu/Ulm.

The focus on Friday was the teams understanding of how to play offside, press in midfield to stop the forward passing and get the ball forward and out wide. In the last game, it all worked really well and we managed to also score three goals!

On the second day, Saturday 16th November, the focus was to continue the offside play and work on moving the ball into space, passing forward through the defence and stepping to a pass.

The games on Saturday, were the toughest, tired legs and a few players missing adding to it, but the understanding of our game and energy that the girls showed was tremendous and improved. The team never gave up and always stayed positive.

We finished in 5th place, with one win and five loses but won the “Best Sportsmanship Award”.

Well done, Ms Cilia and myself loved watching you all play and give so much.
