Varsity Boys' GISST Football

The BBS boys GISST football team made the long journey to Neu-Ulm, arriving in the evening of Thursday 13th November.

The tournament began on Friday morning with a fantastic 2-0 win over St. George's Düsseldorf, highlighted by two superb goals. The team then dropped a close match 1-2 against Frankfurt, going down 0-2 in the first half, but then battling back to take a goal back in the second half.

The final game of the day was an 0-8 loss to the eventual tournament champions, St. Geroge's Cologne, with the team dealing with injuries and exhaustion. Every match, the team improved in their formations, tactics and mentality.

The final day of the tournament saw BBS play Neu-Ulm twice. In the first match, BBS emerged victorious with a 3-1 win, highlighted by terrific team play. The final match of the weekend was a rematch against Neu-Ulm in the 3rd place playoff game, which BBS lost narrowly 1-2.

It was the best match of the weekend, as both teams played hard and fair. The boys battled back from 0-1 down to tie the match. Despite a fantastic defensive effort, they conceded a goal to go down 1-2 with ten minutes left.

Still, the boys did not give up and nearly tied the score in the final seconds, with a shot that bounced off the post. Heartbreak for the team that wanted nothing more than to finish in 3rd place.

The boys grew tremendously as a team in a remarkably short time. They started the weekend as a loose group of individuals, unsure if they could trust each other, but left as a true team that had found its fighting spirit.

We are very proud of how them!

We would also like to thank you Mr Silue (coach) and Mr Conte for their support.
