GISST Table Tennis

GISST Table Tennis

Mr Nicholson, GISST Coordinator

BBS took part in the first official GISST Table Tennis tournament at the Franconian International School in Erlangen. We took four teams to the tournament and each team managed to win a medal.  The event took place over two days and involved a lot of Table Tennis!

The Under 14 boys did an amazing job and won their overall tournament.

Our four players were Arthur, Henry, Leopold and Jona.  As well as winning the main U14 boys team event, they also won the Seed 1 and Seed 2 doubles. If that wasn’t enough, Henry won the best first seed singles player, Leopold the best second seed singles player and Arthur the best fourth seed singles player. Well done!

The Under 14 girls took a brilliant step forward and won their overall tournament, having come second last year! Well done indeed.

Our four players were the same as last year, Charlotte, Nami, Nika and Parmida. As well as winning the main U14 girls team event, Nika and Parmida also won the Seed 1 doubles. If that wasn’t enough for them, Nika won the best first seed singles player, Parmida the best second seed singles player and Nami the best third seed singles player. Well done!

The Varsity boys took seventh place in the overall tournament. It was really unfortunate and changed the true potential of the team, when one of the players had to go home feeling very ill. Our players were JD, Max, Noah and Ferdinand. Well done to the three for giving their best and taking many games to the maximum points.

The Varsity girls finished in fifth place in the overall tournament.

Our players were Ela and Minou. Unfortunately, as they were an incomplete team. However, Minou won the best second seed single player!

It was, yet again, a very successful two days and our students were a great credit to the school.

I thank all the players for making it such an exciting tournament and showing not just super table tennis skills but true grit when needed to.

A massive thank you from everyone, Mr. Holden, for all your time and efforts coaching and encouraging the players/students.
