Schule ohne Rassismus – Schule mit Courage

There was plenty of excitement at Berlin British School as we welcomed Hertha BSC players Deyovaisio Zeefuik and team captain Josip Brekalo, together with Patrick Keogue, a sports scientist and athletic trainer who has worked with BBS for ten years and leads our Parkour and Coordination and Balance after-school activities.

The visit formed part of our involvement with Schule ohne Rassismus – Schule mit Courage, a nationwide initiative that encourages schools to stand for respect, inclusion and a strong sense of community.

During a special assembly, students had the chance to hear from all three guests and ask plenty of questions about football, training and professional sport. The atmosphere was relaxed and lively, with students especially keen to hear about their favourite players, career highlights and ambitions for the future as professional athletes.

After the assembly, the excitement continued as students met the guests and posed for photos.

The visit came at a particularly exciting time for Hertha BSC. Just yesterday, the team celebrated a 3:1 victory against VfL Osnabrück, with captain Josip Brekalo opening the scoring in the second half.

A huge thank you to Deyovaisio Zeefuik, Josip Brekalo and Patrick Keogue for spending time with our students and making the visit such a memorable one.

At Berlin British School, we are proud to be part of Schule ohne Rassismus – Schule mit Courage and to create opportunities that bring our community together around the values of respect, inclusion and courage.
