Early Years and Primary School Clubs
Lunch Club

Visit our Library during Lunch time!
Students are able to visit the Primary School Library from 12:50 to 13:20 every day. This is on a 'drop in' basis so there is no need for students to sign up for this.
After School Clubs
Our extracurricular activities (After School Clubs) are mainly offered for recreational purposes. However, they also offer opportunities for growth, enrichment and skill development. These activities provide a structured and supportive environment where students might explore their interests, make new friends, and acquire valuable life skills.
These clubs are mainly for students in Grades 1-5, however, we also offer clubs for K2 and K3 children. Our After School Clubs are run by BBS teachers (no fees/green) and external coaches (fees/blue) and take place in the afternoon from 15:30-16:30 (times may vary - see ASC Overview below). Because spaces are limited, registration for the clubs takes place on a termly basis rather than on a yearly basis, so that every student has the opportunity to join the club of their choice. You can find all the information on how and when to register for the After School Clubs below.
Please register your child within the sign-up period (12.12. - 28.12.2025) using the ASC Form below. Carefully read the After School Club Guidelines and also see the After School Clubs Overview regarding costs and other important information. You will receive confirmation, if your child can join their chosen club/s on 06.01.2026 via email.
***Please note that there will be no clubs on the following days:
- 16.02.-20.02. - Half-Term Holiday
- 18.03 & 19.03. - Parent Conferences at PS
- 27.03. - Last School Day/finish at noon
- No Dance Club on February 3rd and February 10th
After School Clubs will commence on Monday 12.01.2026.
Club Overview
Guidelines
- Attendance
It is expected that once signed up for an activity, students attend the activity for the entire duration of the Spring Term (12.01.2026 - 26.03.2026) especially clubs that are run by external coaches/teachers that incl. fees. If circumstances prevent students from continuing or attending to an activity (e.g. sickness, absence etc.), we kindly ask all parents to inform the club coordinator (Ms Canty: chelsea.canty@berlinbritishschool.de or +49 (0) 30 35109-192 ). If your child does not attend a club regularly (by missing two or more consecutive sessions unexcused), they may be asked to leave so that their place can be offered to the next student on the waiting list.
- Place Allocation
Please ensure to only register your child for clubs that are suitable for their corresponding year group. All students will be chosen by means of a lottery. Those not selected will be placed on a waiting list in drawn order. Please notice that some clubs are so popular that not all students can join. All previous registrations expire by the end of each term.
- Fees
Our After School Clubs are run by BBS teachers (no fees/green) and external coaches/teachers (fees/blue). Accounting lies exclusively with the external coach/teacher, Berlin British School is not involved. Invoices will be handed to the students or sent by email by the club coach/teacher. Please see the club overviews regarding fees and other information.
***Clubs involving fees: If your child wishes to discontinue an After School Club during the term, it is in the responsibility of the club coach/teacher whether or not he/she chooses to amend the invoice. If an invoice has not been paid until the due date stated on the invoice, the child will be excluded from the club until the invoice is paid.
- Pick-up Regulation
For pick-up please use the back door of the classroom through the Charles-Dickens School entrance.
For Basketball, Coordination & Balance, Turkish and Football please use the side doors of the gyms.
Make ensure the teacher/coach knows that you picked up your child.
Please also ensure that your child is picked up on time at the end of a club. If your child is not picked up on time, he/she will be sent to After School Care (open until 17:00).
- Snacks and Dress Code
Please pack an extra snack which your child can eat before he/she starts his/her club. All students participating in sporting activities are expected to wear appropriate, functional clothing. Indoor activities require non-marking, clean indoor shoes. All students participating in artistic activities should bring an old shirt or apron to protect their clothes.

She holds a B.A. from the National University of Arts in Bucharest, an M.A. from Brera Art Academy in Milan, and a postgraduate degree from the University of Arts Berlin. Maria has collaborated with institutions such as the Dimitrie Gusti National Village Museum in Bucharest, Palazzo Reale Museum in Milan, and me Collectors Room Berlin, as well as schools including the British School of Bucharest, Albert-Schweitzer-Gymnasium, and Willi-Graf-Gymnasium in Berlin.
Since 2014, she has been leading the Art Club at the Berlin British School, creating a vibrant space where students can explore their creativity beyond the standard curriculum. The freedom of expression she observes in her students often inspires her own artistic practice. The Art Club welcomes up to 13 - 14 participants in a mixed-age setting, fostering collaboration and personalized attention. Its curriculum spans painting, drawing, printmaking, collage, and graphic design, offering children a supportive environment to express their ideas, emotions, and individuality. My Dance Club is all about energy, confidence, and creativity. We explore Hip Hop foundations, learn fun choreography, play with musicality, and encourage every child to discover their own unique style. It’s all about growth, teamwork, and good vibes!
My goal is for every student to leave class feeling stronger, more confident, and proud of what they can do. By the end of the course, they’ll put together a full choreography they can share with excitement.
Let’s dance, create, and have an amazing time together!

Crochet (Gr.3-5)
| Teacher/Coach |
Ms Grodek |
| Grades | 3-5 |
| Time | 15:30 - 16:30 |
| Venue | 5C |
| Fees | 230,- € per term |
The curriculum at this crochet club encompasses not only the technical aspects of crocheting, such as using a crochet hook and working with yarn, but also the opportunity for students to bring their own creative visions and projects to life. In addition to experimenting with and modifying the intermediate results of your own project in line with the final objective, you will also have the opportunity to explore and test innovative approaches to sustainability. Any remaining threads can be repurposed as filling material for three-dimensional bodies or tied together into a long thread and used as a new, colourful thread for a new project. Alternative solutions are also developed when implementing our own visions. New design options outside of the actual project are also discovered and explored. In addition, the students learn about and experiment with different types of wool and yarn.
My name is Lisa Grodek, I am a full-time international crochet designer and artist with 27 years of crochet experience. I have 5 years of teaching experience in schools for grades 1-10 and work as a lecturer in adult education in the field of textile design/crochet for basic and advanced courses, as well as for the further training course 'Crochet in Design Teaching', which is recognised as professional further training under the Berlin Education Time Act. It is important to me to continue my education in the field of pedagogy, for example through further education courses, some of which are run in cooperation with the Free University of Berlin.
My aim is to inspire young people in particular to take up traditional handicrafts such as crochet and to accompany them on their individual and creative path to their own crochet project.

Students must wear P.E. shoes (non-marking, clean indoor shoes) and appropriate, functional clothing.
Coordination and balance is an idea from sports and training science and offers comprehensive, age-appropriate sports exercises to train, improve and develop in a playful way (motor exercises, psycho-motor challenges, sensory activities) the basic motorskills. The aim is to increase the children's willingness to exercise in the long term and to encourage their enthusiasm for exercise and sport. These goals are achieved through the pedagogical method of mastery-based learning, so that the children feel no pressure.
Coordination is scientifically defined as the interaction of skeletal muscle and brain and consists of 7 skills: Reaction, orientation, adaptability, differentiation, coupling, rhythm and balance. It is therefore the most important motor and sporting ability.
Coordination and balance is therefore not only a child-friendly introduction to sport, but also a parallel and complete supplement to all types of sport, compensation for the daily lack of movement, injury prevention, movement experience and preparation for later high-performance sport. Exciting challenge, motivation, participation, helpfulness and humour are our secrets to inspire children for 60 minutes.
