The first step in our process is to give us details about the prospective student by filling out our admissions form on the Admissions page. This make it easier for us to prepare all the information you will need. Please read about our application process here.

No. You can start an application to attend BBS at any time. Before you get started, you may want to read about our Application Process.

Please note that the IGCSE (Grades 9 and 10) and the IB (Grades 11 and 12) are two-year programmes and we do not advise students joining halfway through the course, unless they have been on the same programme of study at their previous school. 

Yes. Contact our Admissions Team directly to arrange a tour of the school. We offer personal tours onsite, guided by our Admissions Team Members who can answer all your questions.

Please note, we do not hold open days irrespective of Covid-19.

Our Admission process includes a tour and a meeting with the relevant Head of School. We then invite prospective students to join us for a three-day visit to the class. This visit is designed to give the student an opportunity to get to know the school, the students and the teachers and for the school to assess suitability both socially and academically.

During the three-day visit, informal assessments are made by the teachers. Each student spends time with our Learning Support team who assess their English and Maths abilities. Throughout the Admissions process, you can contact the Admissions team directly via phone, email or previously arranged Zoom calls.

Please note that we can only offer income-related fees for the bilingual stream and that we do not accept the Kita Gutschein (Kita voucher) for Early Years.

You can apply from anywhere in the world! Please use your current home address when completing the application form and we will send the school contract to this address.

If your application is successful, you will need to provide the school with your new address in Germany. 

No, BBS does not offer a home bus service i.e. a service that picks up and drops the students off at school.

We operate a shuttle service for the students which runs between the school’s sites. 

Students joining the Monolingual English stream (Ergänzungsschule)  in Grades 1-10 must successfully obtain a "Schulpflichtbefreiung" which exempts them from compulsory education at a German school. We assist families in this process.

Students joining the Bilingual stream (Ersatzschule) are unaffected by this process and do not need any further authorisation. 

No, BBS is unable to assist when applying for visas to come to Germany. 

No, we do not offer any kind of accomodation for students attending the school.

There are two classes in each year group. These classes are made up of twenty students: ten monolingual and ten bilingual students. 

German is a compulsory language studied by all students. Students are also given the opportunity to study either French or Spanish from Grade 6 onwards. 

We offer the Mittlerer Schulabschluss (MSA); i.e. German intermediate school-leaving qualification and International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGSCE) at the end of Grade 10, and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB) at the end of Grade 12.

We do not offer the Abitur or A'Levels as a school-leaving qualification.

Please note that we are unable to host external candidates for IB exams or resits at our school.

We have a number of students attending our school with mild physical or learning disabilities. We have a small team of Learning Support staff to assist these students, and therefore we consider each application on an individual basis.

Students attending our school are required to wear school uniform. As a school with a wealth of different cultures and nationalities, Berlin British School's uniform encourages our students to see themselves as a proud member of a community of equals.

Yes. We offer extracurricular activities covering a wide range of options from sports and academic enrichment, to the performing and visual arts. There is an added fee for each club. Extracurricular activities take place either during school time or after school.

Yes. We encourage and welcome parents to volunteer throughout the school. Our PTA (Parent Teacher Association) involves parents in school activites and functions.

BBS is situated about 14km from the centre of Berlin. Our Primary School is a five-minute walk from Berlin’s historic Olympic stadium in the suburbs of Charlottenburg. The Kita and the Secondary School are located in the heart of the Grunewald forest.
