University Entrance Tests on Wednesday, 2 November 2011
Students applying to top British Universities, such as Oxford, Cambridge and the colleges of London University, need to take special tests to identify their suitability and potential.
Cambridge Assessment has been providing research-led and evidence based solutions for major higher education institutions for over 20 years, and develops and delivers carefully-targeted admissions tests to help the selection process. The tests developed by Cambridge Assessment comprise two distinctive types: Specialist tests and Generic tests.
Specialist Tests
Specialist tests assess the potential the individual has to succeed in the particular subject for which they are applying to study.
For example:
- BioMedical Admissions Test (BMAT)
- English Literature Admissions Test (ELAT)
Generic Tests
Generic tests assess the thinking skills of the individual that can be applied to any subject area, and are necessary for application in fields such as Economics, PPE and PPP.
For example:
- Thinking Skills Assessment (TSA)
For several years, BBS has acted as the Examination Centre for Northern Germany for these examinations, which are sat just once a year, early in November. External candidates are welcomed to these examinations; if they wish to find out more, or to apply to sit the exams at our school, they should please send an e-mail to the Head of Secondary School, Mrs Schutz, on sian.schutz@berlinbritishschool.de. The application form with relevant information, together with details of the fee payable can be downloaded at this page and should be submitted to the Head of Secondary School.
