Campus Life

Delivery of the enriched, rigorous and demanding academic curriculum consumes most of our time at BBS. But the excellent academic results, both in external public exams as well as internally, of our students could not be achieved without our being able to offer our pupils the additional care, attention and opportunities that distinguish our school from others.

Reflecting our commitment to incorporate all that is best in British education, all students are members of a school ‘house’ which helps sharpen their competitive edge and forge corporate identity. The exercise of responsibility and experience of management can be gained through membership of the students’ School Council to which members of the senior management team are regularly invited to explain school policies. Close career counselling is offered to Secondary School students looking ahead to university and the world of work. There is a rich array of clubs which pupils may join to develop their skills in a less academic environment; many of these make use of the excellent resources and facilities, such as the Olympic Stadium, on the school’s doorstep. And then there is the sporting programme which is full of opportunities for students to develop their physical skills – again a reflection of the British school principle that exercise of the body is as important as that of the mind. The school’s British-ness is also reflected in the system of pastoral care which closely monitors the general well-being of each individual in the school, a strength also reflected in the small size of most classes. We are interested in the welfare of the ‘whole child’ – not least because academic performance is dependent on it.
