The Governing Body
Berlin British School is a non-profit association, run according to the principles of a German e.V. The Verein's full name is "Berlin British School e.V.", and consists of 15 members. The Verein members elect seven members of the Vorstand, which is the board of the Verein. The Vorstand is the equivalent of a Board of Governors in a British school. Two additional members are co-opted by the elected Vorstand members, usually a member of the staff and a parent. The Headteacher is an ex officio member. The Vorstand advises the Senior Management Team in the running of the school. The Senior Management Team consists of the Head, plus the three Heads of School and the Business Manager. Except for the Head and staff representative, all Vorstand members work on a voluntary basis.
