Welcome to Berlin British School
A private school whose language of instruction is English and in which many pupils are at least bilingual, Berlin British School serves the international community of Berlin-Brandenburg in Germany.
Offering both an elementary or primary, from the age of 3, and secondary to the age of 18, education, the school is divided onto three sites within the city-limits of Berlin-Charlottenburg: The Early Years School (nursery, reception and preschool) provides a curriculum of structured learning beyond that offered by KITAs from the age of 3.
At the completion of Year 1 (the equivalent of the American kindergarten or the German preschool) pupils join the Primary School before graduating to the Secondary (high or upper) School aged 11, where they complete public exams in IGCSE (at 16) and (at 18) in the IB (International Baccalaureate) Diploma, the equivalent of the German Abitur or British A Levels.
The IGCSE and IB Diploma are qualifications respected by leading universities all over the world. We also have a thriving extracurricular programme to provide a healthy balance to our academic one. After school care and school holiday vacation care are offered to the busy parent who may also consider entering their children for a summer camp and exam (IB Easter) revision courses in holiday time. The school accepts applications for admission at any time in the academic year and any level of entry except at the start of or during Year 11 (10th Grade) and 13 (12th Grade).
